We pride ourselves on creating natural, nontoxic formulations in a sustainable way. A key ingredient in Native Nutraceutical’s products is chitosan, derived from spent crustacean shells. Chitosan is a naturally occurring biopolymer that is nontoxic, biodegradable and biocompatible. By nature, its many characteristics are advantageous for the cosmetics industry, known to have these functions in skin care:  emollient, cleansing, skin conditioning, antioxidant, humectant and antimicrobial. Chitosan also acts as an excellent carrier to deliver ingredients such as emollients and essential oils to the skin. When applied to the skin, it dries as a thin film forming a protective barrier. This helps the ingredients attached to the chitosan remain on the skin for longer periods of time, enhancing the efficacy of our key ingredients.
