Why You Should Treat Nail Fungus

About one in ten of us will get toenail fungus (onychomycosis) within our lifetime. That number jumps to one in two of us for people over 70.  For the most part, people think it is just a cosmetic problem that presents as a discoloration of the nail. This is particularly so for people who paint their nails, since it is easily hidden under colored nail polish. What they don't realize is that just covering it up is actually aggravating the problem.

If left untreated, nail fungus will likely continue to spread and can lead to potentially serious issues. This is particularly true if you have a suppressed immune system due to medication, diabetes or other conditions which can make you more susceptible to nail fungus in the first place.

WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF YOU DO NOT TREAT NAIL FUNGUS:

  1. The fungus can spread, causing severe thickening and lifting of the nail.  This makes the fungus much more difficult to treat.

  2. The fungus can spread to other nails.

  3. The severe thickening and lifting of the nail(s) can lead to discomfort and even pain.

  4. Ingrown toenail(s). Fungus can cause painful, infected ingrown toenails that, in certain situations such as diabetes, could lead to severe infection and amputation.

It is also important to treat and prevent recurring athlete’s foot (tinea pedis). This is a fungal infection of the skin often caused by dermatophytes which are the most common organisms found in toenail fungus. People with frequent athlete’s foot infection often end up with fungus infection of the toenails.

Early Treatment is Key!

Because of this, it is important to regularly examine your nails and treat any nail fungus you notice sooner rather than later.  DO NOT JUST COVER IT UP!  Covering that discoloration of the nails with polish will only make it worse.  RESTORE antifungal nail solution contains ingredients scientifically proven to eliminate the organisms that cause nail fungus.  Our unique formula which includes Chitosan can effectively eliminate nail fungus.
